Coleman still has a vote at every council meeting. Plus, there is nothing that I know of preventing him from attending, speaking. commenting and questioning at the committee meetings.

I see that I am pretty late in this, but I just now found this wonderful website, nice job by the way Chris. What Mr. Coleman did was wonderful, and to think that the GOP would not retain control of certain committees is silly. I am sure that Mr. Coleman would have supported a GOP leaning agenda, he just didn’t like the party anymore and the GOP being the bullies they and the Dems are simply reacted like bullies do. Kick him out and pretend he’s not there is very childish and I would expect more from professionals. But of course we are talking about the GOP and the DNC.
Great job Mr Coleman, you have my support.

When I or someone else has a different perspective, it is never “silly”…its just an opinion. If this is an argument that you want to win, start by making a valid point or showing the flaw in my reasoning rather that saying I’m silly or pejorative.

1. The Dem “agenda” did not lose in the 2007 election…a few Dems lost which shifted the “balance of power”.

2. The GOP is not losing committee control because of Coleman. Coleman is gone, whether he went Lib or Dem. Maybe if the GOP councilmen have stronger planning, work across the aisle and find solutions to our current budget issues we could all win!

3. Coleman has not made himself irrelevant. The last I checked he has a few more years left on the council and a vote on most major issues so he will sink or swim accordingly.

4. Also, when you say they should recruit “like minded R’s”, what would such a person be?

IndyCurmudgeon, good job entering the conversation with a pejorative. You really know how to score the big debate points. 2 things.

1. The GOP would be stupid to lose control of a committees b/c of Coleman, the Dem agenda is terrible and was voted down by Marion County voters in 2007.

2. Coleman has made himself irrelevant. Yes I respect him for standing up, but come on, he is done. Why not recruit more like minded R’s. They are out there. I have seen them.

Next time you want to make a point avoid the putdown, just makes you look silly.

By that rationale, your an idiot if you stand one principle, think for yourself and go against the good ole’ boy system?

I respect Councilman Coleman’s decision and disagree with the Republican party leader pulling him from committee’s.

This proves conclusively that they will seek retribution if you do not walk the line. Just the very fact that they have the power to do this shows who is really in charge of our government, and it’s certainly not the voters!

Coleman is an idiot, he has guaranteed he will not be re-elected and has no influence over any policy, he took a 4 year term and turned it into 15 minutes of fame. I know Chris, blah blah blah stand up for your principles, blah blah blah, two party system bad, blah blah blah. I agree but in this situation a lot more can be accomplished by working within the structure. What a waste.
